Single Malt Whisky aged 3 1/2 years in 50 and 100 litre virgin French oak barrels 100% New Zealand Single Malt Whisky. New make spirit made from 100% Canterbury grown and malted barley. Mashed, fermented and double pot still distilled and aged more than 3 years in a 50 and 100 litre virgin French oak barrels in Christchurch NZ.

Toffee and milk chocolate, oak/wood and soft floral undertones on the nose Oak, dark caramel, dark cocoa, new leather, creamy tannin, floral and anise on the palate Slightly drying, oak tannin finish.

Sloe Gin Barrel Finished

Bottled at cask strength, this is the World’s (as far as we know) only Sloe Gin Barrel finished Single Malt Whisky.

The nose exhibits notes of red berries, vanilla, candied ginger and stewed plums over toffee and malt. The palate is rich and mouth-filling with plum, toffee, dark cocoa and malt. The finish is long and reminiscent of dark cocoa and red berries.

Only 361 bottles from this full barrel. This single malt whisky was initially aged in small, virgin French oak barrels for three years before spending the last twelve months in a barrel previously used for making our award winning Pinot Barrel Sloe Gin.

Aged three years in a 100 litre STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) ex Pinot Noir barrel. This is New Zealand’s first single malt expression in the style that has proven so popular for distilleries such as Springbank and Ardbergh.

The nose carries peach, nectarine, black currants and vanilla aromas. The palate is sweet with brown sugar, raspberries, vanilla, light baking spice and caramel. The lingering finish is of black currants and dark chocolate.

Only 120 bottles came from the barrel after the Angels Share!

A note about our wax cork covers:

Divergence Whisky is a craft product. We are hands on, every step of the way, including the bottling process. Each bottle of Divergence is artfully hand dipped in hot wax to provide a final layer over each corkseal.

Wax is an organic substance. It softens in the heat and contracts in the cold or air conditioning. Your wax top may be cracked or scuffed or slightly imperfect. This is perfectly normal. It does not a affect the cork sealing of the whisky in any way. It is, in fact, the mark of a truly hand crafted product.
